I love this seal from the Warring States period (475-221 BC) found in the Shanghai museum. Although about twenty-five hundred years old, it has a very modern and playful quality. The purpose of the seal is unknown but could be used today by someone born in the year of the dog.
We can’t see what kind of knob was made for it, but the seal was cast in bronze and is very small—only about a centimeter square.
