Ba lin shi 巴林石

Balin Stone, a popular stone for seals, is quarried in Daban Township in the Balin Right Banner, Zhaowuda League, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the area of Mount Yamatu. It ha been mined in north China only since 1973. It comes in many colors. It’s been said to be less liable to crack than other popular seal stones. It is composed of Pyrophyllite [although another source says mostly Kaolinite].
